The Hydrology Project

The Hydrology Project, an initiative of the Government of India and the World Bank, is among the most crucial water projects for India.

As everybody knows, water is a limited resource and the demand for water is increasing fast. In fact in many places in India the demand higher than the availability.

The idea behind the Hydrology Project is to establish, upgrade and expand an infrastructure which collects and publicizes all kinds of information about water. With such hydrological information at hand, water resources can be managed better and more judiciously used.

The Hydrology Project is implemented by eight Central Agencies and the Surface Water and Ground Water departments in 13 States.
